Austrian Embassy Internship Position

Austria has a long-standing partnership with Albania, which has been a priority partner country of the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) since 1993. The Austrian Development Agency (ADA) is the Operational Unit of ADC and supports its partner countries in implementing programmes and projects. ADA’s focus in Albania lies on projects in governance/rule of law, integrated water management and labour Market-oriented Vocational Education.

The Coordination Office of ADA in Tirana is looking for a Graduate Intern.

This internship is a paid position and designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will use skills acquired at university and gain a better understanding of work in an international environment and development setting.

Working hours:                     25 hours/week

Tentative starting date:          September 2019

Location:                               Tirana, Albania

Expected duration:  

Temporary contract for 6 months with the possibility of extension for another 6-month period

 

Duties & Responsibilities

The Intern will work closely with the head of office and other staff and assist in:

  • Overseeing the activities of the projects
  • Monitoring the progress of the projects
  • Periodical reporting on the status of the projects
  • Organization of events
  • Social media outreach to raise the visibility of ADA’s work in Albania
  • Other duties or assignments and general office administration as requested

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program or having completed Bachelor’s or equivalent degree no more than one year ago in Communications, International Relations, Economics, Law or other related fields.
  • Computer literacy with practical experience in Microsoft applications
  • Proficiency in English language including good writing and editing skills
  • Knowledge of German is desirable, but not mandatory
  • Prior office experience is desirable
  • Highly motivated with a strong interest or background in development issues or studies
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment
  • Ability to prioritize and perform a variety of administrative tasks
  • Capacity to work under pressure and availability to travel
  • Gender and environmental awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender and environment perspective into tasks and activities.
  • Flexibility to adjust working hours to actual workload as requested
